Vitalik Buterin criticizes corporations' attempts to create a metaverse

Our beloved Vitalik recently commented yesterday on the thoughts of Dean Eigemann from Dialectic on the topic of metaverses. There were also words about how venture capital firms think the future of metaverse will play out.

The founder of Ethereum stated that the emergence of metaverse as a phenomenon would happen. But he also expresses scepticism about corporations being able to make a viable metaverse now.

So far, according to the CEO of the leading altcoin, there is not even a clear definition of a metaverse, and it is tough to say that he is wrong. Secondly, it is not yet possible to say exactly what people want and what products they want to use in a metaverse.

He also condemned Facebook's attempt to monopolise metaverses by META. Or, as the world's regulators have said, Facebook is not trying to rise to the top in the meta-universe sphere but to buy this way, by buying companies that specialise in metaverses.

It has been suggested that Meta, because of its size, will not be able to lose its centralisation, nor will it be able to let the public choose the vector of platform development, which is somewhat expected from a large corporation.

To sum it up, Vitalik wanted to say that today neither society nor big companies are ready for the new order of meta-universes because it is likely to be a space with corporate control and ongoing advertising.

Although we, like anyone, expect only two things from such a blockchain creation: independence, openness and decentralisation.
