“I think the time will inevitably come when cryptocurrencies will play a very significant role, occupy a very significant segment in international settlements.” - stated Lavrov.

A new survey shows that hedge funds plan to significantly increase their exposure to cryptocurrencies by 2026, which is a major vote of confidence in digital assets following the recent sharp drop in prices and the punitive new capital rule program.

A survey of 100 global hedge fund chief financial officers conducted by fund manager Intertrust found that executives expect an average of 7.2% of their assets to hold cryptocurrencies within five years.

Intertrust estimates that if it is replicated across the industry, according to the data group Preqin’s forecast of the total size of the hedge fund industry, this may be equivalent to a total of approximately US$312 billion in encrypted assets. 17% of respondents expect cryptocurrency to exceed 10%.

This will represent a substantial increase in the interest of hedge funds. The current shareholding situation of the industry is not yet clear, but some well-known management companies have invested a small amount of money in encrypted assets. Attracted by the soaring price and the inefficiency of the market, they can arbitrage.
