Today, in 1987, was Black Monday. It was the day of the most significant drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average in its history, 22.6%. The exciting thing is that there was no apparent reason for the collapse, and the news background was relatively calm...
That's because there was no Digest in 1987. After all, Digest is watching the world very closely to tell you about it. Let's go!
New York Attorney General Letitia James ordered two âunregistered crypto lending platformsâ in the state to cease all operations, while demanding that three others hand over information about their operations to her office.
âCryptocurrency platforms must follow the law, just like everyone else, which is why we are now directing two crypto companies to shut down and forcing three more to answer questions immediately,â James said in a press release.
The New York Attorney General did not name the crypto lenders in the release, and the names of the companies were redacted in the accompanying letters. However, one of the letters bears the filename âNexo Letterâ while the other is called âCelsius Letter,â suggesting that Nexo and Celisus Network are two of the companies being targeted by the NYAG. At the moment, it remains unclear which other three crypto lenders are being investigated.
Leticia was one of the iconic figures in the case against Tether. After all, it was with her arrival that the pressure on USDT intensified. Good luck, guys!
Fitch Ratings, a credit rating agency and one of the âBig Threeâ credit rating agenciesâflanked by Moodyâs and Standard and Poorâs S&Pâhas warned that stablecoins may affect the securities markets.
âFitch Ratings believes stablecoins that approach a systemically important scale could come to play an important role in short-term securities markets, such as commercial paper, while bringing new risks to these markets,â Fitch Ratings said today.
Fitch Ratings went on to add that âstablecoin-related turbulenceâ could disrupt the commercial paper market, as well as âtransmit shocks to other market participants.â
