Are all the scams going to China?

"Yes we can" sounds almost as good as "We appreciate your time. Time is Moni". Except that the first slogan is abstract and the second one is quite concrete, you know? :)

China still has one of the biggest cryptocurrency user bases in the world—second only to the U.S.—but billions of dollars of digital assets are being used for crime, according to a new report.

Between April 2019 and June 2021, Chinese addresses sent over $2.2 billion-worth of crypto to addresses associated with illicit activity, blockchain data company Chainalysis said in a Tuesday report, "Cryptocurrency and China."

And in that time Chinese crypto addresses have also received over $2 billion in dirty digital money, according to Chainalysis. The illicit activity includes scams and “darknet market operations”—such as the trafficking of the opioid drug, fentanyl, the report said.

“Just as it’s been a crucial part of the overall cryptocurrency ecosystem, China has also historically played a large role in cryptocurrency-related crime,” the company noted.

So what?

First of all, there are a lot of people living in China. Secondly, what do you expect? The more the ruling party bans, the more people want to make some shadow things. No politics, of course :)

Pop starlet Miley Cyrus has performed at a private party hosted by Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz.

According to a Monday report from Dan’s Papers, the event was held to celebrate the birthday of the billionaire’s daughter, actress Gabriela Novogratz.

Cyrus donned a red leotard and performed an assortment of her hit songs, including “Wrecking Ball” and “Party in the USA,” in addition to delivering covers of Sinead O’Connor, The Pixies and Blondie, among others.

In line with the party’s Coney Island Mermaid Parade theme, Cyrus performed from a tent plastered with giant mermaids at Novogratz’s home in Amagansett, Long Island, New York.

Miami will launch its own cryptocurrency, MiamiCoin. The main purpose of the coin is to finance infrastructure projects and events in the city.

Let us remind you, that Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, a cryptocurrency advocate, said he wants to make Miami a hub for tech and cryptocurrency startups and even invited Chinese miners to the Florida city.

And at the Bitcoin 2021 conference, he called Miami "the bitcoin capital of the world".

Goo-goo-goo-goo. Of course, you can start accusing this politician - he's a hype eater, wants a piece of Bitcoin fame ... and so? The dude really knows his way around trends. Maybe Silicon Valley will drown in its deliberate non-pathos while Miami becomes the new home of technology!

Dolphin Entertainment and West Realm Shire Services Inc., owner and operator of FTX.US, are teaming up to create an NFT marketplaces for major sports and entertainment brands. The pact will combine Dolphin’s creative and marketing prowess with FTX’s knowledge of crypto currencies.

The marketplace is described as “large-scale” and “consumer-facing” and comes as the trading of NFTs or non-fungible tokens is booming. The market for these digital assets hit $2 billion in sales during the first quarter of 2021 with the likes of Beeple selling NFT artwork for $69.3 million and Jack Dorsey auctioning off his first tweet for $2.9 million. At the same time, bands like Kings of Leon are releasing albums as NFTs and filmmakers like Kevin Smith have said they will release movies on the format, a signal of the growing prominence of these tokens.

As part of their new partnership, Dolphin will develop and execute the creative branding, production and marketing of these programs alongside FTX, who will use their crypto exchange services and technical development as the backbone of the marketplaces. Together, Dolphin and FTX will develop and program global NFT marketplaces targeting brands within the sports, film, television, music, gaming, eSports, culinary, lifestyle and charity industries.
