Russian citizen Alexander Vinnik, suspected of stealing and withdrawing funds through BTC, has been transported to America from Greece. There he could end up in prison for more than half a century.

The suspect was flown from Athens to Boston in a private jet and then to San Francisco in a government plane. His movements were reported to the media by his relatives. They are convinced that the very handing over of the suspect to US authorities looks like a kidnapping of the man.

His lawyers are not in contact with him and cannot make an appointment to meet him. Further developments in the case are not yet known.

As a reminder, the man was arrested in 2017 on suspicion of being involved in the theft of $4-9 billion worth of crypto from Japanese cryptocurrency exchange Mt.Got accounts.

He was extradited to France in January 2020. He was then transferred to Greece and from there to the US.  A US court could punish him severely - 55 years behind bars.
