Phil Spencer stated that gamers have been in metaverses for like 30 years, and he understands why many are hesitant about it at the moment, because he too is concerned about the integration of play-2-earn into games.
Most recently, by the way, Minecraft, created by Mojang Studios, banned NFT in their game. And Mojang itself was bought out by Microsoft a long time ago, so on the surface it might look like the corporation is crushing one of the decentralized technologies.
"It doesn't surprise me at all that gamers can look at the metaverse and think ... I already have my avatar, I can already enter the general world and have voice conversations," Phil shared.
Phil Spencer also stated that he is wary of play-2-earn technology, because it creates a workforce of players to monetize while creating revenue for others. The fact remains, but there was no argument about the harms of this method of monetization.
