The NFT platform on Solan Metaplex has seen its MPLX token drop 70%. The dump occurred a couple of hours after the announcement of the Airdrop.

Metaplex Foundation is a nonprofit organization aimed at supporting the Metaplex ecosystem. Yesterday it approved the release of 40 million MPLX tokens. They issued the tokens to get the Airdrop off the ground.

The nonprofit also clarified that only creators outside the United States are eligible to participate in the Airdrop. As of this writing, according to the platform's official website, 14,842,485 MPLX tokens have been claimed.

People have started getting tokens and selling them. Before today's dump, MPLX was trading at $0.35. It is currently trading at $0.11, a drop of about 70%.

By the way, this is not the first time this has happened. You can even think of Optimism's Airdrop, which also knocked the token price down by 70% in its time.
