FC Barcelona and Real Madrid have requested trademark registrations for the metaverse

The clubs have jointly filed an application according to which they cover a wide variety of services and products they can provide in the meta-universe, including even cryptocurrency wallets and the sale of virtual goods.

Judging by the number of activities covered, they are interested in metaverses. Thanks to these virtual universes, they will be able to get additional sources of income, but that's not even the main thing. After all, getting feedback from fans will also be much easier.

The application also hints at possible metaverse gaming software, as it mentions "virtual reality software". For now, FC Barcelona is more involved in the Metaverse, as they have announced that Metaverse is the next step in the club's expansion by launching Barca Studios in March. This department will focus on products in the cryptocurrency sector.

Although a quarter of that department was recently sold to Socios.com, which specialises in tokens to attract fans, for $100 million according to the deal.
