Cybersecurity company warns of a phishing attack on metamask

Share

On Thursday, cyber-security company Halborn recently announced a new wave of phishing attacks targeting metamask users.

The company analyzed a slew of phishing emails. First, let's explain what phishing attacks are. It's one way to lure away your credit card numbers, confidential data, or, in our case, the seed phrase from your wallet. The main feature of this kind of scam is that the fraudulent emails pretend to be official.

In our case, as stated by the company, the letter at first glance looks genuine. The logo and the metamask headline are present. The main thing the letter asks is to comply with KYC rules, i.e. to be verified "in the wallet".

The company explained what mistakes are the easiest to spot when a letter is a scam. First are spelling mistakes, and second is the fake domain metamaks.auction. Then the website asks you to enter the seed-phrase

So always be careful and remember, a large company will never knock on your inbox to verify any details if you haven't contacted them before.
