Cosmos blockchain network will change ATOM token and concept

This news followed statements from Delphi Labs when they said they would shift the focus of their development toward the Cosmos ecosystem.

The new Cosmos white paper was released Monday at the Cosmoverse conference in Medellin, Colombia. The upgrades described in the document are still technically in "proposal" status. Still, changes are expected to be made to the chain as early as Oct. 3.

Cosmos is a blockchain ecosystem designed to scale and interact with applications each other. Cosmos Hub was the first blockchain-based on Cosmos, which originally served as an intermediary between other interconnected blockchains.

One change is the renaming of Cosmos Hub to "Interchain," which will allow other Cosmos blockchains to borrow the Hub validator pool to secure their network instead of seeking their own.

Cosmos co-founder Ethan Buckman said the new token issuance model will allow other Cosmos blockchains to become more interconnected with Cosmos Hub and ATOM.
