Axie Infinity's regular player count is down 75% from its peak

According to Activeplayer's game stats website, the game hasn't seen even a hint of its hottest performance since January 2021

In case you suddenly don't remember. This game, Axie Infinity, was the top 1 in sales among other play-to-earn projects for almost the entire bullpen. In fact, Axie's hype started along with the bull run...

And just before crypto-winter hit, the number of players was 2.78 million. That was in January 2022. But in June that year, the average monthly number of players was about 1.2 million.

Even leaving aside the bear market, the game mechanics contributed partly to the decline in player numbers. Around this time last year, players from developing countries reported that their earnings from playing Axie Infinity were higher than the minimum wage in some countries.

Since then, however, the price of the Smooth Love Potion (SLP), an in-game token that could be earned in Axie Infinity, has fallen by more than 95%. Other events this year, such as Axie Infinity's $600 million Ronin Bridge exploit, have seemingly eroded confidence in the GameFi ecosystem.

At the moment, the game, even with all its updates and sweat, shows no upward trend. Based on experience in the past, it can be saved only by Bull run with an infusion of money because recent updates have not made the game more esports (which is one of the main aspirations of the game). Still, the earnings on it have become almost zero.
