Today, Academician Sakharov, one of the creators of the Soviet hydrogen bomb, returned to Moscow today after a seven-year exile. Fortunately, cryptocurrency creators are not exiled yet...or are they?
Let's go!
The SEC plans to sue Ripple over the alleged sale of unlicensed securities.
So far, the U.S. regulator's specific claims are unknown, but Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said the SEC's decision is a move against the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem. Garlinghouse and Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen are expected to be the defendants in the case.
Ripple collapsed by almost ⅓ in 24 hours after such news...sad face.
Will Brad and Chris Larsen go to sleep under McAfee's prison camera... nobody knows.
But crypto is starting to get strangled, and that's a fact. Whether or not it's for the cause remains to be seen...
Analyst service Glassnode reports that 1.78 million BTC never left a "miner's address," which is 9.5% of the market supply.
98% of them were mined at least 7 years ago, and 94% were mined more than 10 years ago.
Glassnode thinks it's likely that most of them are lost forever.
Well there aren't many people who haven't lost BTC!
One day humanity's best minds will figure out how to get them, and we'll write about them in MoniTalks :)
Bitfury Group's Crystal Blockchain platform has released its annual report with results and statistics for 2020. Key takeaways from the report:
The amount received by mixers increased by $0.5 billion, meaning mixers received $1.4 billion bitcoin in total this year.
The amount of bitcoin received by darknet entities increased by $0.3 billion to $1.6 billion in 2020.
The mixers are used by scammers, carders and so on...mostly.
But don't forget that the FBI somehow shook up the Silk Road and no mixers helped.
On December 22, representatives of Russian service BestChange received a notice from Roskomnadzor about the removal of BestChange.ru from the registry of prohibited sites.
On November 25, a court session was held to consider the appeal, during which a decision was made to cancel the verdict of the court of first instance to block the site. And now, a month later, access to the site has been restored in full.
This was the third blocking in Russia, the previous two were in 2017 and 2019, although there were more lawsuits, but some of them were appealed before the actual blocking.
Congratulations, BestChange! Hopefully you won't be blocked again.
*at least not this year.
