BlackRock, the world's largest investment firm, sent two documents to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to add Bitcoin futures to their funds.

BlackRock did not specify which commodity exchange they would choose to buy bitcoin futures. The funds can only invest in cash-settled bitcoin futures.

So what?

Hmm, here is the only CFTC-registered exchange that accepts cash for bitcoin...

We wonder how BlackRock will bring the money in? With trucks?!

According to Bitnodes.io, the number of active Bitcoin nodes has reached an ATH. There are now 11,314 active nodes in the network.

The largest share of users use the Tor network, launching a client using this network ensures private transactions, hiding the IP address of the connected node.

Therefore, their location is unknown. The second and third largest regions are the United States and Germany.

The new version of Bitcoin Core 0.21.0 is used by 5.6% of the nodes, while the majority (43.5%) use the earlier Bitcoin Core 0.20.1 release.

The popular cryptocurrency-enabled private browser has integrated support for IPFS (InterPlanetary File System), which should help improve access to the decentralized network.

IPFS is a peer-to-peer hypermedia protocol designed to make the Internet faster and more secure. The protocol helps peer-to-peer nodes store and distribute data in a single distributed file system with data addresses mapped to a unique cryptographic hash identifier rather than to a server.

The largest U.S. crypto exchange Coinbase announced the purchase of infrastructure and blockchain solutions provider Bison Trails.

The deal is expected to close by the end of the year, the sum was not disclosed. Bison Trails will continue to operate as an independent company and offer staking and node maintenance services.

The Hacken community will hold the First Grey Hat Hackers Ideas Competition, organized by long-term project investor Leo Andreo. The total prize pool will be 1,000,000 HAI (≈ 30,000 USD) and 5,000 USDT. Submissions are due January 19 through January 31, 2021.

Hacken, a leading cybersecurity company, will support the community initiative by providing 50% of the prize fund and participating in the evaluation of ideas. The other half of the prize fund will be granted by Leo Andreo. In addition, a special $5,000 USDT prize from Leo Andreo is available.
