The University of Tokyo launches courses in the metaverse

At the end of 2022, the University of Tokyo, better known as Todai, will launch various training programs. And as you can guess from the name, they will take place in the most real meta universes!

Although if we believe the local news outlet The Asahi Shimbun reports, the course will initially only be available to high school students or people already in the job market. Most likely, this is due to the need to make a lot of edits to the syllabus of the junior courses.

If you thought it was the first official use of metaverses in Japan, you're not right with everything). To solve social problems, a group of enthusiasts from Fukuoka named JACFA started their own metaverse project.

They wanted to solve the problem of the reclusive way of life, of people who, according to the opinion of the people themselves, could no longer coexist in society. They are also called hikikomori. So, the SecondLife Metaverse project actively helped people to return to normal life and assimilate into society.

Back to our University of Tokyo. Junior courses will be given introductory lessons to talk about such an unusual meta-space. And the higher courses will be offered the opportunity to learn/advance in working with artificial intelligence, as well as communication technology and getting an entrepreneurial education.

In fact, being able to learn remotely and do so in the metaverse can solve a lot of problems, from the trivial fascination with the process to solving many people's post-quarantine outbreak of sociophobia. Even though cryptocurrencies and NFT have not been announced as separate subjects to study, their closely related meta-universe technologies should help in popularising them.
