Netflix plans to ban cryptocurrency advertising

The company will launch an advertising service in the fourth quarter of this year. The Australian media is already talking about a ban on mentioning cryptocurrencies in advertisements. However, it is unknown whether the policy will apply only to Australia or the rest of the world.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that streaming services giant Netflix will launch its new service, supporting its advertising ability.

Although, as stated by Netflix, the service's details have not yet been finalized. This information has emerged from negotiations with Netflix with some of the major media outlets in Australia. The local media started talking about a possible ban on several types of advertising, including crypto ads.

On the other hand, even if the ban is passed, it is unknown whether it will only apply to Australia. This ban may also apply to other parts of the planet where Netflix operates.

Twitter, meanwhile, has banned cryptocurrency advertising since 2018. It prohibits advertisements for most cryptocurrency services except for centralized exchanges. Like Meta, they also adopted an advertising ban in 2018. Although in December 2021, they softened their policy in this matter...
