DeFi hacker of Transit Swap platform agrees to pay back $2 million

Share

Not long ago, we wrote to you about another hack of the decentralized platform. Today it became known that a hacker went to the platform and its users.

On October 10, the decentralized financial (DeFi) protocol Transit Swap announced that it had agreed with its most prominent hacker for a refund.

About a week before that, we wrote about how the hacker was able to deploy his exploit, which managed to steal about $2 million. The exciting thing is that he didn't steal the project's money but the users.

Since then, however, the prominent hacker has recovered about 70% of the money used, thanks to the help of security companies such as Peckshield, SlowMist, Bitrace, and TokenPocket. They quickly tracked down the hacker by identifying his IP and email addresses.

Tokens worth approximately $2.74 million obtained through the exploit had to be returned to the company by the hacker in exchange for Transit Swap's release of all legal liabilities arising from the attack. In addition, the hacker would receive 2,500 BNB ($685,600) for his "white collar" efforts to expose the security vulnerability.

Well, if that's not God's way, then we don't know what else to call it :D. One of those events didn't start out pleasantly, but everyone was happy in the end.
